Setting Up The Best Outdoor Nativity Scene Ever!!

Why should I consider setting up an Outdoor Nativity.

A fabulous way to bring the magic of Christmas alive is to displaying an outdoor nativity scene, also known as a crèche or manager.

What a meaningful way to celebrate the birth of Jesus during the Christmas season. To help you create the magic, I want to share

some of the tips to setting up a nativity scene my husband and I have discovered over the years.

When should I set up my outdoor Nativity Scene?

It takes some work to set up your display.  We suggest looking for a nice day right after Thanksgiving. Waiting too long may find

you setting up your nativity in less pleasant weather. Setting it up early also gives you; your neighbors and friends more time to enjoy it.

How do I plan the layout of the Nativity?

First, study any instructions that are included.  Then decide on the best location for your beautiful display.

Usually a flat spot makes it easier to lay it all out. Take all your pieces and place them out in the approximate position you imagine

them standing. Then visualize them standing. It may also help to have more than one person who can stand up the different pieces

so you can better see their spacing.

You may also have a manager, a star or other props such as lighting that will also need to be taken into consideration.

Have fun and be creative.

What to remember when you take down your outdoor nativity scene.

When you are ready to take your nativity down we recommend you first take a picture as a reference for the future.

It makes it easier next year when setting it up to look back at that picture.  As you disassemble each figure make a

plan to store hardware in a manner that will help you know were to use it next year.

Having a special storage place for your nativity was it is safe from damage and is easy to assess will improve your

motivation to display it year after year.

Our Outdoor Nativity Story.

My husband Robert remembers having a nativity scene in his yard growing up. His father made it. He cut a life size nativity

from plywood and brought it to life with paint.  When we moved into our new home in 2001 Robert was determined to display

a nativity like the one from his youth.  After looking for one to buy, he could not find anything that compared to his memory

of his dad's nativity. So, he set out to make a nativity of his own.  Now over twenty years later he is still making life life size nativity.
